Hi everyone, we recently booked our restaurants for our trip in August. Here is a step by step guide on how to do it.
Step 1: Decide what restaurants you want to go to on which days before the booking day.
We used reviews, videos and the menus to decide. If it’s important to you, you can also see which restaurants are the best value per credit using this website: http://disney.urbantastebud.com/how-to-maximize-disney-dining-plan-credits/
I liked Beyond The Kingdoms (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRHIA7rdjIToE-3pb2RER0w) videos.
Tip: At the moment, the Disney website is having a few bugs. If you can’t see any restaurants when you search “Make Reservations”, try searching for individual restaurants in the search bar.
Step 2: Research which reservations are the hardest to get.
Dinner shows and character dining are going to fill up first. Other restaurants that are popular are California Grill, T-Rex, Coral Reef, Ohana, Le Cellier and Chef Mickey’s.
Tip: If you’d like to book the Fantasmic Dining Package, you’ll have to go through this to get to the restaurants.
Step 3: Decide on rough times for your meals. I had a look at fireworks shows that I didn’t want to miss and scheduled it that way. Some restaurants even give you a good view of the fireworks.
Different websites say different things but I tried to make sure I would be finished dinner before 8pm.
Restaurants like Spice Road Table in Epcot are supposed to be great for night time show viewings.
Tip: Reservations open for your trip opens 180 days before your first day at 6am Eastern time which is 11am UK time.Step 4: Before you booking day, sign up to My Disney Experience and add your credit card details.
Step 5: On the day, but before the time the reservations open, open all the restaurants you want on separate tabs on your browser.
Tip: It’s worth noting you can only book the first 10 days when your reservations open. You’ll have to book any others each day afterwards e.g. we went online on the next day and booked our restaurant for the next day of the trip.
Step 6: When the reservations open, just pick the date and choose a time. You can search by exact time or rough time of day (e.g. lunch, dinner, breakfast.
Tip: If you can’t see any times under dinner, breakfast or lunch, then try searching an exact time. Sometimes you aren’t given times under these headings but there are tables still left.
Step 7: Once you have chosen a time, click on it and you’ll be taken to the next screen. You should see your name as the reservation contact. Click next.
Step 8: On your next screen, the payment method should already be there. Click next and you’ll be taken to a reservation page. You’ll have to enter a mobile number. You can also add dietary requirements and reserve this. You can now book your other restaurants.
